Dakshinayan Art Foundation is a group of Indian contemporary artists, who began their artistic journey in the 1980s at Thiruvananthapuram Fine Arts College. This pivotal period not only influenced and shaped our perspectives but also laid the foundation for the collaborative spirit that characterizes the art of Dakshinayan Art Foundation today.

Our journey began as a casual conversation about the splendor of that era and an idea emerged to collaborate, even though we were residing in different cities. Determined to overcome physical barriers and geographical distances, we embraced the virtual realm and met regularly through online meetings. This happened at a time of uncertainty when the entire world was in the grip of fear.

Subsequently, we decided to share our work with each another and with the wider audience by hosting individual exhibitions on social platforms. Thus, Dakshinayan Art Foundation’s first online exhibition was born, transcending physical boundaries, and embracing the digital canvas to showcase our work. It provided artists with a digital space to display their work and allowed art enthusiasts to explore and appreciate art from the safety of their homes. It also opened up opportunities for us to reach wider audience beyond geographical limitations.

The enthusiastic response to these online exhibitions sparked the idea of showcasing our works in physical exhibitions. We are grateful to “Gallery Space” in Hyderabad for inviting us to organize a group show. We exhibited a diverse range of artworks including paintings, drawings, stone and wood sculptures, and ceramics. This show was truly unique in Hyderabad and attracted a significant number of spectators.

Vision As Dakshinayan Art Foundation, our vision is to cultivate a dynamic and inclusive ecosystem for Indian contemporary artists, transcending geographical boundaries and fostering a global appreciation for the diverse expressions of our rich cultural heritage. We envision a future where the collective creativity of our artists serves as a powerful catalyst for social change, dialogue, and inspiration, contributing to the global tapestry of contemporary art.

Mission Our mission at Dakshinayan Art Foundation is to provide a platform that nurtures, promotes, and celebrates the artistic endeavors of Indian contemporary artists, particularly those who emerged from the transformative era of the 1980s.
