Ceramic Sculpture Camp
MAY 01/05/2022 | Chempazhanthy, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala
The Dakshinayan Art Foundation was inaugurated with a ceramic art camp in 2022. It was held at an extensively equipped ceramic studio owned by artist Byju SR at Cerrabag, in Chempazhanthy, Thiruvananthapuram. This camp was led by Byju and it was meant for the members of the foundation. For many of us, the ceramic process was unfamiliar, but the spirit of learning infused the camp with energy and made it productive. The nearly week-long workshop was exhilarating, with visits from artist friends, art lovers, and the late Prof. K. C. Chitrabhanu. Each artist was immersed in the creative process and produced a minimum of two works. The pictures from these pieces were made into a 2024 tabletop calendar called the “Dakshinayan Table Top Calendar.”

Wood Sculpture Camp
MARCH 05/19/ 2023 | Punalur, Kerala
In 2023, our second art camp was held in Punalur, Kerala, amidst its breathtaking natural beauty. Ten artists participated in this camp. It was hosted by Chandramohan M. K. and led by the experienced sculptor V. K. Rajan. The environment was perfect for our chosen medium: wood logs. The artists utilized the wood carving tools offered to the best of our ability to express our diverse artistic inspirations.
Throughout the week-long camp, lively discussions on art enriched our experience. The local villagers enthusiastically embraced the event, contributing to its vibrant atmosphere. Several captivating sculptures from the camp were featured in the “Dakshinayan Tabletop Calendar 2024.”

Dakshinayan’s tabletop calendars
Starting in 2022, the Dakshinayan Art Foundation will display the work of its member artists in tabletop calendars, which were essential to funding the Dakshinayan Art Foundation’s early artistic activities. These calendars are more than time-keepers to nurturing art and fostering seamless culture and commerce. These calendars are not just pages; They are narratives that pay a timeless tribute to India’s artistic prowess while sustaining the foundation’s creativity.
