Born in Thrissur, Kerala. The creative world of Azis T.M. is full of humanity, in its soft tones and vibrancy. Even when fighting the odds, life in its brightness comes to the fore in his compositions that never romanticize anything in life-be it the human forms or the nature around. “I have never been particular about maintaining a style, and I realize that experiences change with time. I accept the new environment, people and also like to adapt new techniques and colors,” he says. His art is influenced by the places and people around and the situations that he encounters. That is why ordinary elements become extraordinary statements in his works that celebrate and reflect life, with all its apparent lightness and internal gravity. Azis did his MFA at the Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi, after his BFA in painting from the College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram. He had his first show in the late 1980s and since then has held a number of solo and group exhibitions, apart from participating in camps and residencies. Azis presently lives and works in Thrissur, Kerala.
