Hailing from Kottara, near Meyyannoor in Kollam district was born to the late K. Gomathiamma and the Late T. P. Raghavan Pillai. After formal education in painting from College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram.Venu had a sojourn with solitude seeking the inner meaning of life. He travelled widely on bare foot through ashrams for quite long time. His first solo exhibition titled Archaic Dreams was held in 1990 in the house of soviet culture Thiruvananthapuram. The Second solo exhiition titled Transcending Hues was held in 2020 at Kerala Lalitha Kala Academy art gallery, Thiruvananthapuram. Venu currently is the secretary of M.V. Devan Kalagramam, mentored by Sidhardha Foundation, Pallimon, Kollam.
